Hyderabad: The Indian National Trade Union Congress (Intuc) has warned that it could call for an agitation if the promises during the Assembly elections made to the workers of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) were not kept at the earliest, said a media release by the trade union on Monday.
The TGSRTC’s Intuc state committee requested the state government to resolve the pending issues in a phase-wise manner. The committee said it had made representations to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar and IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu and warned that it could take up phase-wise protests if the state government failed to make progress.
The Intuc, which is affiliated to the Congress, said the wage board revision is still not implemented and the amount of the bonds was disbursed only to drivers and the amount is yet to reach conductors, mechanics, supervisors, security personnel, office staff, medical staff and the members of other divisions.
The Intuc alleged that previous chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had encouraged welfare committees to mute the democratic voices of the unions, and requested the state government to reintroduce the trade unions immediately. The union said the management's unilateral attitude in deciding the duty shifts and work hours was causing dissatisfaction among the workers against the Congress government
The union demanded that the government buy new buses and fill vacancies in the RTC. In the last three months, the management has announced that they were filling 3,000-odd posts, but no action has been taken so far. So we demand the RTC management to announce the job vacancies notification, the union demanded.
