Allu Arjun gets regular bail

Hyderabad: Actor Allu Arjun was on Friday granted regular bail by the Nampally court in connection with the Sandhya theatre stampede case. He was asked to furnish two sureties of Rs 50,000.

He was directed to appear before the Chikkadpally police every Sunday as part of the bail condition.

The actor, who was granted interim bail for a period of four weeks by the Telangana High Court, had filed a regular bail petition in the Nampally court. After hearing the arguments from both parties on December 27, the II additional metropolitan sessions judge had reserved the orders for January 3.

Arjun’s counsel argued that his client had no direct involvement in the incident and mentioned that charges stated in the FIR under Section 105, 118(1) r/w 3(5) against him were baseless. The prosecution, however, claimed that as a high-profile figure, the actor should have been more cautious about the risks during such large gatherings.

The incident occurred on December 4 during the special screening of Pushpa-2 at Sandhya theatre, where a stampede that broke out resulted in the death of a woman (Revathi) and had critical injuries to her son Sri Tej.

The actor was arrested on December 13 and released on interim bail a day later after the High Court granted him four weeks of interim bail.
