SIT arrested three persons for providing SIM cards for the operation. All three of them were based in Siddipet.

Hyderabad: The special investigating team probing the phone-tapping case of the BRS government tenure on Saturday night arrested three persons for providing SIM cards for the operation. All three of them were based in Siddipet.

The SIT identified the arrested accused as Todupunoori Santosh Kumar, 35, Bandi Parashuramulu, 34, and Teljeer Vamshi Krishna, 37. Those SIM cards were reportedly used to snoop on phone calls of political leaders, film actors and members of the judiciary during the BRS government tenure.

They were booked for criminal conspiracy, forgery, impersonation and attempted extortion in Cr No 1205/2024 of the Panjagutta police station.

Santosh Kumar was a SIM cards sales executive from Siddipet; Parsharamulu a car driver from Seetaramnagar, Siddipet; and Vamshi Krishna Arogyasri district manager in Nalgonda district.

The case was registered based on the complaint of one Chakradhar Goud of Siddipet who had claimed that he was put under life threat, faced torture and interference with his personal life through illegal surveillance. He had also reported that he was receiving messages of blackmail on his phone from anonymous accounts.

Police said Santhosh Kumar had issued a SIM card illegally using the personal identity documents of local resident to Parsharamulu and Vamshi Krishna who had used it to send threatening messages to the complainant.

Police said Vamshi Krishna was earlier working with the complainant and was removed from Arogyasri department on corruption charges. He was reappointed in June 2023 and worked in the camp office of T. Harish Rao, the health minister.

In the case, Harish Rao is the first accused and former task force DCP Radha Kishan Rao the second accused.
