Tiger Sighting Near Utnoor Creates Panic Among Villagers in Adilabad

Adilabad: Villagers near Utnoor town and Narnoor mandal in Adilabad district spent sleepless nights as a roaming tiger moved closer to human settlements. Farmers stopped cotton picking, fearing the tiger’s presence near agricultural fields could lead to attacks.
Forest officials urged farmers to avoid their fields for a few days as the tiger's movements were being tracked in Utnoor mandal. Pugmarks were collected to trace its path.
On Saturday evening, the tiger attacked a bullock grazing in the Dhomdhari forest area of Pembi mandal. Forest staff found evidence of the tiger’s presence in Cheemanaik Thanda and Nagapur villages in Utnoor mandal. On Sunday, another bullock was attacked in Chanduri-Rajulaguda village, further alarming residents.
Kumra Anand Rao, a resident of Rajulguda, raised an alarm when he saw the tiger attacking one of his bullocks. The big cat retreated into the forest, but the incident left residents of Luxettipet, Nagapur, Cheema Naik Thanda, Chanduri, Rajulguda, and Shymapur villages in panic.
A forest department team, including Utnoor deputy range officer Sheelanand, Wildlife Conservation Society member Mallesh, and Utnoor Section Officer Jadhav Gopal Singh, led by Sirichelma Forest Range Officer (FRO) Nagawath Swamy, tracked the tiger’s movement and warned villagers about its presence.
FRO Nagawath Swamy appealed to villagers not to harm the tiger and assured compensation for any cattle lost. He cautioned against using live electric wires to protect crops and requested farmers to stay away from their fields for two days for their safety.
