Hyderabad:The Trimulgherry Regional Transport Office (RTO) is grappling with serious operational challenges as ongoing road-widening works have encroached upon 75 per cent of its three-acre land. The building’s proximity to the road has further compounded the issue, leaving little room for daily operations and causing immense inconvenience to the public.
“This office handles hundreds of applications daily, yet we have no proper space to manage these operations,” lamented a senior staff member. “Queues spill over onto the road, creating a safety hazard for both visitors and passing vehicles.”
Ramesh Kumar, a two-wheeler owner waiting to renew his licence, said, “There’s hardly any seating area, and we’re forced to stand under the Sun or rain. With all this noise and dust from the road works, it’s even harder to concentrate or hear announcements.”
Another visitor, Sunitha Renjerla, noted the lack of basic amenities. “There are no proper waiting areas and even accessing the office entrance is chaotic. For a government office, this is unacceptable,” she complained.
Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sriganesh Narayanan, visited the RTO to interact with the staff to understand these challenges. Acknowledging the gravity of the issue, he stressed the need for an immediate solution. “A government office should be a space where people can access services comfortably and efficiently,” he said. “The current state of the RTO not only inconveniences citizens but also hampers the work environment for employees.”
The MLA assured that plans were underway to reconstruct the RTO as a state-of-the-art facility. “This office will be rebuilt to set an example for how public service spaces should function. We will ensure it meets modern standards and caters to the needs of citizens and staff,” he told Deccan Chronicle.
The visit included discussions with RTO in-charge Swami, motor vehicle inspectors Jayachander, Narasimhulu and Avinash, who highlighted operational bottlenecks and requested urgent measures.
