Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Abhishek, wanted in drugs cases, who has eluded the police dragnet since 2012, was arrested by a special team of TSNAB from his hideout in Goa.
Abhishek, who reportedly has a strong nexus with bulk cocaine suppliers from South Africa, has been supplying cocaine in bulk to locations in Mumbai, Goa and Pune, police sources said.
A native of Uttar Pradesh, Abhishek was arrested in a drug case in 2012 when he was travelling with one G. Srinivasulu. They were caught with 10 packets of cocaine during police checks. Also arrested were Naveen and two Nigerians.
After his arrest by the SR Nagar and Jubilee Hills police, Abhishek obtained bail but did not attend court even once. An NBW was issued against him, police said.
The police learnt that Abhishek was running a restaurant in Goa and was dealing in drugs from there. A special team of TSNAB tracked him in Goa and arrested him. He was produced before the court on Thursday, police sources said.
Much earlier, he was arrested by the city task force for organising gambling at his house in SR Nagar. Abhishek acted in over six Telugu movies before his role in the drug trade was exposed.
