Top Maoist Leader Narahari Surrenders Before Telangana Police
Narahari, a native of Somidi in Kazipet mandal of Hanumakonda district, had been underground since 1996 and was involved in several key Maoist operations

Hyderabad: Maoist central committee member Pasunuri Narahari alias Santosh, a Telangana native, who was underground for 45 years surrendered before the security forces along with his wife amid intensified anti-Maoist combing operations in the Saranda forest area of Jharkhand, police said.
Narahari, hailing from Somidi in Kazipet mandal of Hanamkonda, had allegedly been underground since 1996. His wife is reportedly from Andhra Pradesh. Police said Narahari played a key role in Maoist operations.
Sources said security forces were continuing intensive combing operations in the Saranda forest region for other senior Maoist leaders, including Muppalla Lakshman Rao alias Ganapathi and Misir Besra, believed to be hiding there.
Sources described Narahari’s surrender as a significant development in the ongoing Operation Kagar.
“We will ensure that Narahari will get all post-surrender facilities that the government assured,” a police officer said.
Narahari was influenced by then Maoist state secretary Puli Anjayya and Kranthi Ranadev while still in the university. He fought against landlords and anti-social groups and later moved into the forests, police said. He held responsibilities with the technical wing of the Jharkhand East regional bureau of the Maoists, participating in several key operations. His surrender will be disclosed after his statement has been recorded by the investigation agencies, police sources disclosed.
