TPCC Appoints Inactive Leaders as Coordinators for Vijayostavalu
Adilabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) appointed the party’s inactive leaders as coordinators for Assembly Constituencies for the ‘Praja Palana Vijayostavalu’ from December 1-9 to bring them into action for the upcoming local body elections.
These leaders also include those who joined the party from the BRS before the Lok Sabha elections.
The party appointed former minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy of Nirmal, Koneru Konappa of Sirpur (T), and Ajmeera Rekha Naik of Khanapur as coordinators for Choppadandi, Peddapalli and Nizamabad (Rural) Assembly Constituencies respectively.
The coordinator must participate in the development and welfare programmes taken up in allotted Assembly Constituencies as part of ‘Praja Palana Vijayostavalu’.
TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud appointed these leaders as the coordinators since they were not actively participating in the party programmes after the party’s debacle in the elections for the Adilabad Lok Sabha seat.
It is speculated that in the Congress circles that the party is making all-out efforts to get inactive leaders into action in view of the ensuing local body elections, considering their seniority. The party wanted to utilise the services of these leaders in the ensuing local body elections.
The Congress candidates, who were defeated in the Assembly elections, are acting as incharges for their respective Assembly Constituencies. In Sirpur (T), defeated candidate Ravi Srinivas is acting as in charge of the Assembly Constituency.
Dande Vittal of the BRS joined the Congress recently and got active in the Sirpur (T) Assembly constituency where the sitting MLA is Palvai Harish Rao from the BJP.
A Congress party senior leader of Mancherial on condition of anonymity said the TPCC is trying to make inactive leaders ‘comfortable’ by appointing them as coordinators for Vijayostavalu on completing one year in government.
