Traffic Rules Ensure Family Safety, Says Top Cop
Karimnagar: Commissioner of Police M. Srinivas inaugurated a 5K Run as part of National Road Safety Month celebrations in Peddapalli district. He highlighted the importance of strict adherence to traffic rules for family safety. Over 200 police personnel participated, running from the Commissionerate office to the municipal office via Gandhi Chowrasta.
Srinivas stressed that only licenced drivers should operate vehicles and urged two-wheeler riders to wear helmets and car drivers to use seat belts to reduce fatalities. He also advised keeping vehicle documents handy and avoiding reckless behaviours like rash driving, triple riding, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The commissioner expressed concern over youth negligence on roads, which causes fatalities and inconvenience to others. Despite awareness campaigns, violations persist, with fines totalling Rs 13 crore imposed within the Ramagundam police commissionerate limits in recent years. He called for public cooperation to reduce accidents and ensure road safety.
