Trafficking Victims Need Better Support: Experts

Hyderabad: Stronger collaborations among stakeholders, comprehensive support systems for survivors, increased research and data-driven policy-making and enhanced cybercrime unit capabilities are important to combat human trafficking, said the experts at the two-day seminar on emerging trends in human trafficking and combating strategies, which was organised by the Women Safety Wing (WSW) of Telangana police and anti-trafficking NGO International Justice Mission, concluded on Friday.

DGP and the WSW chief Shikha Goel said the seminar provided a platform for over 225 participants, including civil servants, police officers, jurists, media representatives and legal professionals, to discuss the emerging trends in human trafficking and develop collaborative strategies to combat this crime.

"Key topics covered in the seminar included sex and labour trafficking, online child sexual exploitation, transnational trafficking and the critical role of media in combating trafficking. The experts emphasised the urgency of implementing these strategies to effectively address the challenges of human trafficking," she added. The event featured stalls with awareness materials from the WSW, which garnered significant interest from other states.
