Transform ITIs into ATCs, Make Students Industry-ready: CM Revanth Reddy Urges Officials
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy instructed officials of the labour and employment department to devise a comprehensive plan to upgrade the state's ITIs into advanced technology centres (ATCs). The initiative is aimed at modernising and upgrading ITIs so that they can cater to the current industry demands and equip students with the skills necessary for emerging technologies.
He was addressing a review meeting on the modernisation of ITIs with senior officials at the Secretariat here on Saturday.
The Chief Minister stressed the need to ensure that there is no shortage of staff in the revamped ITIs and that the syllabus is made relevant to the prevailing industry standards. He directed the department to appoint a committee to oversee modernisation of the curriculum and urged them to seek expert advice and suggestions to ensure that the content meets the needs of advanced industries.
"If necessary, the cooperation of the Skill University should be enlisted to develop a robust updated curriculum," he stated.
He also suggested that polytechnic colleges should be assessed for setting up new ATCs, broadening the reach of advanced training that is beyond what is on offer in ITIs.
He directed officials to list Assembly constituencies that currently lack ITIs and said his goal was to have an ITI or ATC in at least 100 of the state’s constituencies.
The Chief Minister reiterated that transformation of ITIs is a critical part of his government’s broader effort to tackle unemployment problems and equip youth with skills that are in demand. The ATCs will offer specialised training in sectors such as robotics, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and other cutting-edge technologies.
Reddy instructed officials to move quickly on these plans, stating, "We cannot afford to delay. The future of Telangana’s workforce depends on how well we adapt our education and training systems to the changing industry landscape."
