Trump’s green card promise to foreign students gets an overwhelming thumbs-up

Hyderabad: Former president Donald Trump’s promise of giving green cards to foreign students graduating from any US college has drawn positive responses from Indian students and parents.

In a recent podcast with ‘All-In’, Trump, who is seeking re-election, said that foreign students, who graduate from any college in the USA, shall be given an automatic green card. He said that he wanted bright students to stay back in the country, instead of heading home. They can “become multi-billionaires” here, he said.

Many of those aspiring to make a career in the United States are quite enthusiastic with Trump’s promise.

“With the assurance of permanent residency as soon as I complete my course, I can plan my future without any pressures”, said K. Vaishali, a second year graduate student.

She added “I don’t have to work around my visa to stay in the country. Rather I’ll have a sense of freedom to pursue my goals.”

Another student Anand Kumar said “This is amazing news for a student like me. It means that I can focus more on my studies and career without worrying about visa issues. Getting a green card after graduation would make it easier to find a good job and settle down in the US.”

Sudha, a parent of a student who is pursuing her science masters in Florida, said “I am very happy to hear about this promise of Trump. As a parent, I want the best for my child and getting a green card will provide them with better opportunities in the US. It will make the process smoother and less stressful for us.”

The response to Trump’s promise is overwhelmingly positive, and many Indians are willing to move to the United States to pursue their careers and future goals.
