The Bureau’s responsibility is to combat drug trafficking comprehensively, including cultivation, production, transportation, smuggling, sale, purchase, possession, or consumption of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the State.
It serves as a ‘Secretariat’ for the State Anti-Narcotics Task Force so as to exercise the powers of a police station to register, investigate and prosecute cases related to drug and psychotropic substances. With the instructions of Director-General of Police, Telangana, the TSANB can also take up investigations of narcotics and medical drug cases from other units in the State.
TSANB’s three pillars, ‘Courage-Commitment-Combat’ is the motto to control drug offenders. Thus, these three pillars have become a mandate of TSANB since its inception to generate grass-root level intelligence to detect and disrupt organized drug trafficking groups.
