TSCDA demands fresh prescriptions for habit forming drugs

Hyderabad: The Telangana Chemists & Druggists Association (TSCDA) has urged patients to regularly consult their doctors and obtain fresh prescriptions for habit-forming drugs. Chemists would no longer accept outdated prescriptions, reinforcing their commitment to curbing the misuse of drugs, the association said.

The association said it was closely working with the government and the Drugs Controller Authority to ensure that habit-forming drugs are dispensed responsibly. “Patients need to understand the importance of getting fresh prescriptions from registered doctors,” said R. Srinivas, president of TSCDA. “Our chemists will not be pressured into dispensing medications without valid prescriptions.”

As part of its broader efforts, the association has been educating chemists and the public across the state. "These efforts align with the government's vision of a drug-free society, with chemists playing a critical role in ensuring the responsible dispensation of medication," a press note from the association read.
