Turmeric Prices Hit Record High of ₹16,000 In Nizamabad

Traders believe that prices may increase further, as the season is expected to end by late April or early May

Nizamabad: For the first time, turmeric prices have touched record highs at the Nizamabad Agriculture Market Yard. In the current season, the highest price was earlier recorded on March 6, and rates have surged again over the past two days. On Wednesday, turmeric prices reached ₹16,000 per quintal.
Farmers from Nizamabad, Nirmal, and Jagtial districts are bringing turmeric to the market yard for sale. The produce is being brought in different varieties, including Kommu, Manda, and Chura. Around 30,000 quintals of turmeric are arriving at the market yard.
Encouraged by remunerative prices, farmers are bringing larger quantities of turmeric for sale. Traders believe that prices may increase further, as the season is expected to end by late April or early May.
Due to better purchasing facilities, farmers regularly prefer to bring their produce to the Nizamabad market yard. Despite the presence of middlemen, many farmers choose to sell their turmeric here.
Meanwhile, although the government introduced the e-NAM facility at the market yard, it is currently not functioning effectively. Expecting better prices, farmers continue to bring and sell their turmeric at the yard.
