Two Senior IPS Officers Come Back to Telangana
Charu Sinha, Akun Sabharwal back from deputation; Telangana govt plans major IPS reshuffle.

Hyderabad: Two senior IPS officers of the Telangana cadre — Charu Sinha and Akun Sabharwal — who have completed their Central deputation of at least six years each, have returned to the state and reported to the government. Both officers are awaiting postings.
Speculation is rife that the government is set to reshuffle IPS officers, including officers of the ranks of deputy inspector general and inspector-general of police, and additional DGP, by assigning postings to Charu Sinha and Akun Sabharwal.
Charu Sinha, a 1996-batch IPS officer, was the first woman to serve as IG of CRPF Southern Sector. She also held responsibilities in the CRPF’s Kashmir sector.
Akun Sabharwal, a 2001-batch officer, served as IG, ITBP. During his tenure as director of enforcement and vigilance in the excise department, he handled a high-profile drugs case involving Tollywood directors, actors, and actresses.
The government has asked intelligence officials to submit reports on several IPS officers and their working schedules, particularly regarding how they handle various issues. Recently, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy instructed IAS and IPS officers to engage more closely with the public to understand and resolve citizens’ issues promptly. It has also been reported that some SPs working in different units are not performing their duties satisfactorily.
In light of these developments, the government is considering transferring certain IPS officers and assigning postings to efficient ones. It is also reported that some IPS officers are planning to go on central deputation, pending approval from the government.
