Unhygienic conditions found in canteens in Govt. and Pvt. hospitals in Telangana

Hyderabad: The food safety officers across the State conducted inspections in canteens in the government and private hospitals.

As many as 15 canteens including 11 in government hospitals and four in private hospitals were inspected. During the inspections, the officials found certain hygiene related violations in the canteens with respect to the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA)-2006.

Notices are being issued to the canteens with minor violations, along with due guidance in following the FSS Rules and Regulations 2011.

All Food Business Operators (FBOs), who are operating canteens in medical facilities, are hereby instructed to ensure strict adherence to FSS Rules and Regulations, with enhanced focus on hygiene norms as per Schedule-IV requirements.

Inspections will be scaled up in the coming days to ensure clean and hygienic food availability in medical facilities across the state, officials said, adding that for any support regarding guidance and Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) get in touch with food safety officers concerned.
