Untimely Rains Damage Crops

Heavy rains, gales, and hailstorms cause extensive damage to maize, jowar, and paddy crops just a month away from harvest.

Adilabad: Unseasonal heavy rains, accompanied by gales and hailstorms, battered parts of Mancherial and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts over two consecutive days, causing extensive damage to standing maize, jowar, and paddy crops.

In the Mancherial district, fields in Korvichelma village (Dandepalli mandal), as well as in Luxettipet and Hajipur mandals, experienced severe damage to maize crops. Meanwhile, in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, maize and jowar crops in Rebbena, Kagazangar, Chinthalamanepalli, Dahegoan, and Tiryni were uprooted and flattened just a month away from harvest.

Farmers across the affected areas have reported huge losses, with some areas, including parts of the Sirpur (T) Assembly Constituency, also reporting significant crop damage. A team of BJP leaders, led by former Mancherial district president V. Raghunath, visited the impacted fields in Korvichelma, engaging with farmers about their losses and urging the state government to assess the damage swiftly and provide compensation.

Additionally, paddy crops under Kadam Ayacut in Mancherial have suffered, leaving farmers unable to plant a second crop until the situation stabilises. Officials are awaiting orders from the state government to begin damage assessments and implement relief measures.
