UoH ranks 801-850 in the world in QS World University Rankings 2025

Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) is ranked between 801-850 in the world in the 2025 edition of the QS World University Rankings, released by global higher education analyst QS Quacquarelli Symonds on Tuesday. This is an improvement over their 2024 ranking where they fell in the 801-850 band. The UoH also improved in the 'citations per faculty' indicator, ranking 335 in 2025 compared to 372 in 2024.

The 2025 edition of the QS World University Rankings is the largest ever, evaluating 5,663 institutions and featuring 1,503 universities from 106 countries including 46 in India. Other Indian institutions ranked include the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc Bangalore) which placed in the top 100 globally, IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi which were ranked in the 101-150 band, and IIT Kanpur which was ranked in the 151-200 band.

QS World University Rankings use a methodology that gathers two distinct datasets: paper count over five years and citations count for six years for papers published over five years. This year, QS implemented the largest methodological enhancement since its inception, introducing three new metrics: Sustainability, Employment Outcomes and International Research Network, and adjusting the weighting of some existing indicators.

Reacting to the rankings Prof B J Rao, Vice Chancellor, UoH said that though this is good progress, "we need to improve in the other parameters as overall ranking is also linked with global visibility, perception etc.”
