Video of Chilli Powder for Breakfast at MGU Goes Viral

Nalgonda: A video purportedly showing chilli powder being served instead of chutney at Krishnaveni hostel in Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) went viral on social media, sparking criticism. However, university authorities claimed that idli was served for breakfast on the day, though cooked rice was seen in a dish beside the chilli powder.

BRS MLA K.T. Rama Rao tweeted sarcastically, accusing critics of selective outrage. He highlighted the issue, questioning why similar situations are treated differently in Telangana compared to other states. He also referenced Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi’s past statements on similar incidents.

Reports suggest that chilli powder was offered to students whose parents were on a protest fast and not consuming chutney. However, there was no clarity on the presence of cooked rice in the video.

University vice-chancellor Prof. Altaf Hussain said that an inquiry had been ordered. He assured student union leaders, who submitted a memorandum on the issue, that action would be taken against those found responsible.
