Vijayawada cops to foot patrol entire city
Vijayawada:NTR district commissioner of police (CP) P.H.D. Rama Krishna has directed police officials to conduct foot patrolling under all police stations every day and keep a tab on suspects in their respective areas.
In addition, he wanted area cops to take the help of armed reserve (AR) police personnel when patrolling areas like Kothapet, Ajith Singh Nagar and Nunna.
The order came after Rama Krishna presided over a crime review meeting with NTR district police officials.
Sources said, in particular, the CP wanted city cops to keep a special tab on blade batch members and people consuming ganja. He also wanted police to counsel blade batch members, rowdies, history sheeters and ganja consumers.
He asked SEB police personnel to increase their vigil and curb sale, manufacturing and transportation of country-made liquor, NDPL liquor, ganja and other prohibited substances in the district.
The NTR district CP to be vigilant about violence that can erupt in the city in the wake of elections in the district. He directed police officers to expedite investigation of cases in which women and children are involved.
Rama Krishna wanted Vijayawada city police to continue focussing on conviction-based policing, so that crime rate could be brought down.
DCPs K. Srinivasa Rao, Uday Rani and Chakravarthy, additional DCPs T. Kanaka Raju, Krishnamurthy Naidu, D. Prasad Rao and Sri Hari, apart from other senior police officers, participated in the meeting.
