Waqf Act Won’t Impact Masjids, Says Aruna
Waqf Act will benefit poorer sections among Muslims and check the loot carried out so far, says Aruna
HYDERABAD: The Waqf Amendment Act, 2025 will not snatch masjids, imambaras and dargahs, BJP vice-president and Mahbubnagar MP said on Sunday. It was a “false campaign unleashed by some mischief mongers,” she said and claimed that the legislation would check the loot carried out in the name of Waqf by few individuals.
In a statement, Aruna welcomed the Act getting Presidential assent ahead of Sri Rama Navami. The Act will benefit thousands of people whose land was stuck in false and fabricated cases for many years.
Asking Muslims to realise how they were cheated by pseudo politicians, Aruna said the new Act would check this practice. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah and minority affairs minister Kiran Rijiju, Aruna, member of the JPC on the Waqf Bill, said that getting the Presidential assent was a golden moment in Indian history.
The Act aims to ensure transparent and accountable management of Waqf properties through digitisation and a centralized portal. This will help in tracking and managing Waqf assets more efficiently, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries.
The income generated from Waqf properties will be used to enhance the socio-economic status of poor Muslims. This includes providing better education to children from low-income families, supporting orphans, and assisting widows in their development, Aruna said.
