Warangal: Cops Nab Kirana Store Owner
Warangal: The Mahbubabad police on Thursday nabbed a general store owner who had absconded after borrowing around Rs 10 crore from people of Bayyaram after assuring them of high interest. Police received complaints from various people, who had invested with the accused, Kairamkonda Ganesh. Superintendent of police Sudheer Ramnath Kekan formed special teams to nab him.
Police found Ganesh at Varanasi along with his family on Thursday. They took him into custody and were bringing him to the district.
Ganesh told the people he wanted to upgrade his store into a supermarket and hence needed the money. About 200 people had lent money to Ganesh. He left the village along with his family and switched off his mobile phones.
Aggrieved people staged protests in front of the kirana store and lodged complaints with police.
ACB nabs DCMS manager, cashier red-handed
The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday trapped the manager and cashier of the District Cooperative Marketing Society (DCMS) while they were allegedly accepting Rs 1 lakh from a person for sanctioning a paddy procurement centre in Karimnagar.
According to ACB sources, the manager was identified as Venkateshwar Rao and the cashier as Kumara Swamy. They demanded Rs 1 lakh from people who approached them to open a procurement centre in Karimnagar Rural mandal.
The victims approached the ACB and lodged a complaint against the duo. As per the plan, some people handed over Rs 1 lakh to the accused at DCMS office when the ACB stepped in and caught the duo red-handed.
