Warangal: For the first time in the Warangal Police Commissionerate, the police officials conducted a grand farewell and retirement ceremony for a police dog named Bhittu, who served for a long period in the police dog squad here at the premises of the police commissionerate in Hanamkonda on Tuesday.
Attending as a chief guest, the police commissioner Amber Kishore Jha felicitated the sniffer dog Bhittu with a garland on its retirement. Bhittu joined the police department on December 26, 2013, and served for more than 11 years. It played an important role in detecting the bombs during the VIP visits under Warangal police commissionerate limits.
Speaking on the occasion, CP Jha said that the dog squad in the police department is an important division and it would be highly helpful in catching not only the criminals but also in finding explosives. At present, the dog squad members are also playing a vital role in finding drugs like ganja and other products.
He lauded the services of Bhittu in the police department and its handler constable Prabhakar for looking after it carefully during its service. The additional DCPs Sanjeev, Suresh Kumar, R.I. Srinivas, Spardhan Raj, Sridhar, Chandrasekhar, president of the police association Shoban Kumar and dog squad in-charge Anand were present on this occasion.
