Warangal’s Jeevanji Deepthi To Compete in Paris Para-Olympics
Warangal: President of the Para-Sports Association of Telangana (PSAT) Muttineni Veeraiah called on Jeevanji Deepthi, who is going to participate in the Para-Olympics 2024 in Paris, and congratulated her in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Deepthi hails from Kaleda village of Parvathagiri mandal in Warangal district. She set a world record by clinching the gold medal in the women’s 400-meter event in the World Para Athletics Championship held in Kobe, Japan this year. Later, Deepthi went on to win gold medals at the Morocco Para Athletic Meet and Oceanic-Pacific Games held in Australia and a silver medal in the Virtus Global Games held in Vichy, France.
Speaking on the occasion, Veeraiah said that it is a proud movement not only to the association but also to all para-sportspersons, women and differently-abled people. “Deepthi has started her sports career at PSAT and is now participating in the Para-Olympics. I hope Deepthi will get fame to the country and to the state by winning a medal. Since the Chief Minister is prioritising sports, the PAST would seek his support and try to provide the necessary facilities to para-sports persons as the Haryana government does,” he stated.
