Hyderabad: Woman Detained for Threatening to Post Videos of Her Friend Taking Bath

Hyderabad: A special wing of police reportedly detained a woman for capturing videos of her close friend taking bath and changing dresses using a spy camera and began blackmailing her by threatening to post the videos across social media platforms if she was not paid money.

The police team began investigating the case after the victim disclosed the harassment she was facing to a senior police officer, sources in the department said. She said that her close friend had gained her confidence by narrating her personal and domestic problems.

The two, aged between 22 and 25 year, are students staying in a working women’s hostel in the city.

On one particular day, the accused invited the victim, who belongs to another state, to her house as her parents had gone to their native place. The accused had reportedly installed spy cameras in her house, sources said. The victim stayed in her friend’s house for two days. A few days later, the victim was shocked when the accused sent her videos in which she is seen taking a bath. The accused threatened to post the same on social media if she failed to give her money.

Unable to bear the harassment and blackmail, the victim approached a senior police officer and narrated her tale of woes. However, for the sake of privacy and security reasons, the police teams have not revealed their identity.

Meanwhile, the team probing the case suspects that the accused has previously blackmailed other victims using the same modus operandi.
