Woman duped of Rs 8.73 lakh in fake job scam

Hyderabad: A homemaker from Bolaram on Monday filed a complaint with the Cyberabad Cybercrime police stating that she lost Rs 8.3 lakh to a fraudulent online job scam linked to Amazon India. The modus Operandi involved a Telegram invitation promising easy earnings by adding items to the Amazon cart.

The victim, a BTech and homemaker, was first contacted by a person, Priya, who introduced the victim to a simple task which generates profits. Initially, the woman paid Rs 1,000 to participate and after successfully withdrawing Rs 1,650, she was motivated to make further payments as instructed by Priya. The amounts escalated quickly, with payments of Rs
20,000 to Rs 3,20,000 being requested in the name of unlocking withdrawals and gaining VIP access.
The victim was then introduced to another fraudster, G. Shri Krishna, who encouraged her to trade for higher profits. Further payments followed, including Rs 1,59,000 for an income task and Rs 250,000 as a security deposit to avoid money laundering suspicions.
Later the woman was unable to withdraw any funds. She was eventually informed that her account was locked, and additional payments were demanded for verification. Realising she had been scammed, she reported the incident to Cyberabad Cybercrime police.
