Woman Sentenced for Killing Brother in Shabad

Hyderabad: A woman accused of murdering her brother in a dispute over family property in Bodampahad, Shabad mandal, was sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs.5,000 by the X ADJ Court, Rangareddy, at LB Nagar.

The incident occurred on March 22, 2014 when Arunamma, 36, visited her brother Balraj's home to demand her share of their father's agricultural land. An argument broke out between Arunamma, Balraj, and his wife, Amdapuram Laxmi, with their father, Narsimulu, siding with Arunamma.

To avoid escalating the matter, Balraj suggested continuing the discussion later and sent his wife to the field.

Later that afternoon, Balraj reported being assaulted by Arunamma and their father. Despite being in severe pain in his stomach, he refused medical attention, and believed the injuries would heal. His condition worsened and he succumbed to his injuries on March 28, 2014, while undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad.

Initially, Shabad police registered a case of unnatural death. After reviewing the post-mortem report, the charge was escalated to one of murder. The primary accused, Arunamma, was arrested, while the second accused, Narsimulu, was reported deceased during the investigation.

Circle inspector Upender Rao completed the investigation, and the court proceedings concluded with Arunamma being found guilty of her brother's murder.
