Work with dedication for Telangana’s prosperity: CM Revanth Reddy urges teachers

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday urged the teachers to work with dedication for the prosperity of Telangana.

Addressing a meeting with the government and local body teachers, he said, “Teachers played a crucial role in the movement for separate Statehood for Telangana.” “We felt that with separate Telangana, education would improve, and teachers would get the respect they deserve. Professor M Kodandaram, who is also an MLC, Indian educationist Chukka Ramaiah and Professor A Haragopal would get recognition. But we saw what happened in the new State. We saw how previous governments humiliated teachers,” he said.

“Telangana’s future is in your hands. As many as 30,000 government schools, 26 lakh students, and their parents have entrusted their future in your hands. We planned for 10 per cent allocation for education in the budget, but we allocated 7.3 per cent amounting to Rs.21,000 crore considering the promises made,” he explained.

According to Revanth Reddy, of the 30,000 government schools, 26 lakh students study, while 33 lakh students study in 10,000 private schools. “Do private schools have better teachers? Maybe the lack of basic facilities is the reason. The condition of employees in Telangana is worse than in the combined State. This is a harsh truth. Teachers are like honeybees. They work hard, but when threatened, they attack like a swarm of honeybees,” he said.

“To instill confidence in employees, we ensured salaries are paid on the first of every month. We resolved the long-pending promotions of teachers. This meeting is to assure you that the government is with you,” he said.

Teachers should work with dedication and make government schools attractive. Last year, admissions in government schools decreased by two lakh. “We need to make government schools more excellent, making people feel proud to send their children. We have no magic solutions, but we will listen to your problems and resolve them,” he stated.

The State government entrusted self-help women’s groups the responsibility of improving basic facilities in government schools. “We have ordered officials to provide free electricity to government schools. For Telangana to prosper, we all need to work with dedication. The government will promote sports and establish mini-stadiums in mandal centers,” he added.

As unemployment was rising due to lack of skills, the State government established a Young India Skill University in Mucherla with 50 acres and Rs.150 crore. “We are taking measures to provide skills, jobs, and employment to youth. We will introduce a sports policy to promote sports. The education you impart will shape Telangana’s future. Your goal should be to uplift poor students,” he added.
