Wyra Police Seize 128 kg Ganja, Arrest Three Inter-State Smugglers

On inspection, police found 60 packets of ganja weighing 128 kg.

Nalgonda: Wyra police on Friday arrested three inter-state smugglers at Somavaram on the outskirts of Wyra town in Khammam district and seized 128 kg of ganja valued at ₹64 lakh from their possession.

The accused were identified as Manuyal Bothra, 22, from Doraguda in Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri district in Odisha, Chitikala Sanyasi Naidu, 25, from Nathavaram in Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh, and Lakshman Kilo, 24, from Kamarguda in Chitrakonda mandal of Malkangiri district.

Assistant commissioner of police Sadula Sarangapani said the arrests were made during vehicle checking near Sri Anjaneyaswami temple at Somavaram, where police noticed three persons standing by the roadside with five gunny bags, leading to suspicion.

On inspection, police found 60 packets of ganja weighing 128 kg. The three were taken into custody and, during interrogation, admitted to procuring the contraband from Malkangiri in Odisha and transporting it to Tamil Nadu for sale, he said.

A case has been registered and the accused were produced before the court.
