Suryapet: A youth from Nuthankal, identified as Katuri Ramulu, alleged that police took him to the station on December 31 while he was standing in front of his house and assaulted him with lathis. Injury marks on his body appeared to support his claim.
However, the police presented a different version. They said that Ramulu was taken to the station after behaving rudely when questioned by patrolling officers about consuming alcohol near his home. They denied allegations of using lathis.
As the incident gained attention on social media, circle inspector of Thungathurthy, Srinivas, spoke to the youth over the phone and launched an inquiry to establish the facts.
