YSRC state-wide campaign on Dec. 13 for farmers
VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress on Tuesday released a poster announcing a state-wide campaign on December 13 in support of farmers, demanding a fair price for paddy.
Party leaders unveiled the poster titled YSRC in Support of Farmers, which calls on the state government to procure paddy from farmers at remunerative prices.
Former ministers Ambati Rambabu and Vellampalli Srinivas, MLCs Lella Appi Reddy and Md. Ruhulla, YSRC state coordinator D. Vemareddy, former LIDCAP chairman Kakumanu Rajasekhar and others participated in the poster release function. They voiced strong concerns over the deteriorating condition of farmers in the state, particularly after the recent untimely rains and cyclones.
The YSRC leaders condemned the coalition government for abandoning farmers by failing to procure paddy. They said farmers have been forced to sell paddy at lower rates, as many could not stock their produce due to a lack of storage facilities.
They went on to point out that the government has failed to purchase even 10 per cent of the paddy at the MSP.
As part of the state-wide protest, YSRC will submit memoranda to all district collectors seeking a remunerative price for farmers.
