Visakhapatnam: Vizag Sketchers is expanding in Visakhapatnam ever since Preethi Gajula Sangita spearheaded establishment of this community in the City of Destiny in February 2023.
To join Vizag Sketchers, all one has to do is pick up sketching materials and head to the location announced on their Instagram page for a Sunday session, which is from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
To date, around 30 members gather every Sunday morning at Vizag Beach Road or other locations to express their creativity and nurture their talents.
Gulzar Hussain, Aditya Phanni, P.V. Hanumanthu, Tanya Narayan and Srikanth Paketi have supported the establishment of this community.
Gulzar told Deccan Chronicle that Vizag Sketchers welcomes artists of all backgrounds, from highly skilled practitioners to beginners, watercolour enthusiasts, pencil sketch artists and digital illustrators.
Another member Harika says due to the lack of public awareness about art, artists are often discouraged. As a result, many artists cannot showcase their abilities. Vizag Sketchers is a platform for such people to showcase their talent without barriers.
Preethi, a member, says there is not yet an awareness that art is a viable career, though there are institutes offering fine arts education. She said Vizag Sketchers is a much-needed platform for artists to display their work and nurture their creative passion.
