BWF World Championships Final: Carolina Marin beats PV Sindhu in straight sets
Nanjing: PV Sindhu and India’s wait for a maiden BWF World Championships continues as Carolina Marin outplayed her Rio Olympics rival to win her third world title here on Sunday.
The Spaniard defeated Sindhu 21-19, 21-10 to win the final as the Indian had to settle for silver for a second year in running.
While Sindhu looked in control till the halfway stage of Game 1, Marin bounced back spectacularly to clinch the first game before dominating the Hyderabadi shuttler in the second game to win the final.
With her long reach, PV Sindhu took the fight to Carolina Marin as the Spaniard made quite a few unforced errors to allow Sindhu to run away with the advantage in the first game of the final.
However, Marin upped the ante and reduced the number of unforced errors to grab the advantage back from the Indian to win the first game 21-19.

Although the Rio Olympics finalists are yet to win a title this year, the two have found their gumption and peaked at the right time to make it to the final of this edition of the BWF Championships.
While Sindhu defeated the likes of Nozomi Okuhara and Akane Yamaguchi to reach the final, Marin overcame Saina Nehwal and He Bingjiao to make it to the title clash.
While Sindhu will be targeting to become the first Indian to win the World Championships, Marin will be keen to clinch her third worlds title.
