Hyderabad: The top seed Sameer Verma toiled hard before registering a hard-fought win over over his compatriot R.M.V. Gurusaitdutt to enter the men’s singles final of the ongoing BWF Tour Super 100 tournament here on Saturday.
In the semifinal, Sameer had to sweat it out for 51 minutes to get the better of unseeded Gurusaidutt as the scoreline read 16-21, 21-15, 21-11.
Sameer will now take on Soong Joo Ven of Malaysia in Sunday’s summit clash.
In the other semifinal clash, the Malaysian had defeated seventh seed Firman Abdul Kholik of Indonesia in straigjht games — 21-17, 21-14.
Meanwhile, top seeded local pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty continued their fine run as they stormed into the men’s doubles final after registering a comfortable 21-14, 21-6 victory over the duo of Arun George and Sanyam Shukla.
In the mixed doubles category, the top seeded duo of Pranaav Jerry Chopra & N. Sikki Reddy too booked their place in the final with a 21-19, 21-15 victory over the fifth seeded Hong Kong pair of Chang Tak Ching and NG Wing Yung.
They will next face sixth seeds Akbar Bintang Cahyono and Winny Oktavina Kandow of Indonesia in the final.
