Happy to be part of AP government: PV Sindhu
Vijayawada: Badminton star P.V. Sindhu reported for duty as a trainee deputy collector on Wednesday. She has been assigned to Krishna district for her training. According to sources in the office of the CCLA, she will receive a total of Rs 53,800 per month. Sindhu was accompanied by her parents when she met with B. Rama Rao, secretary of the CCLA, in Gollapudi on Wednesday. After completing the formalities at the office of the CCLA, she went to Sidhartha Medical College for her fitness test. She received her fitness certificate, met with B. Lakshmi Kantham, the district collector of Krishna district, and took charge as a trainee deputy collector.
Mr Lakshmi Kantham said that P.V. Sindhu had taken charge as trainee deputy collector as per the directions of the CCLA. He said that her training would begin after August 20, as she had to practise for a tournament that is to be held in Scotland from August 17. He said that Sindhu had been granted leave and her training would be scheduled after her return. He added that she would be trained by officials from the VRO level to the district collector in various phases. Mr Rama Rao said that Sindhu would be trained for a period of 72 weeks by officials who had a good performance record and high efficiency. The district collector will create the training schedule and select officials to train Sindhu.
On her day of joining, the ace shuttler was welcomed by the CCLA office staff with bouquets and garlands. She said that she was happy to be a part of the Government of Andhra Pradesh as a deputy collector, and she promised to do justice to her job. She added that she would continue to play badminton for as long as possible, to win medals for the country. “At present, I am undergoing training at the Pullela Gopichand Academy. I will participate in all the national and international tournaments, and I am confident of bringing more laurels to the country,” she said.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh issued orders on July 27, appointing Sindhu as a deputy collector. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu personally handed over the appointment letter to Sindhu. She was given a month’s time to report for duty and submit the relevant certificates. The trainee will have to sign a bond stating that she will serve the government for a period of three years after the completion of training. She will be on probation for a period of two years. During the probationary period, she will have to pass some tests conducted by the government. If Sindhu adheres to the norms and procedures of the Andhra Pradesh Government, she will be eligible for the conferment of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre by the Union Public Service Commission within nine years.
