BWF World Championship Saina Nehwal bows out with bronze
Glasgow: India's Saina Nehwal was knocked out of the BWF World Championship here after she suffered a 21-12, 17-21, 10-21, loss to Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the semifinals on Saturday.
It was Saina who took the first game 21-12, but Okuhara came back from behind to complete a sensational victory and advance to the final. With this loss, Saina has now settled for a bronze medal in the women's singles category
In the second game, Saina managed to make a strong fightback, but eventually went down 17-21 to her opponent.
The third game was completely dominated by Okuhara, as she eased to a 21-10 victory. At 6-12 down in the third game, Saina had some hope of bouncing back, but the Rio Olympic bronze medalist from Japan sealed a comfortable victory.
The Indian challenge at the championship continues with PV Sindhu and her Chinese opponent Chen Yufei facing each other later on Saturday. The winner of the match will play Okuhara in the final on Sunday.
