Breach of Privacy: Rohit Sharma lashes out at IPL TV broadcaster

Hyderabad: Team India captain and Mumbai Indians (MI) star player Rohit Sharma lashed out at the official TV broadcaster of Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday, accusing them of invading his privacy.

Rohit's ire was following a video of him that was recorded by the telecaster during one of the practice sessions. The video of the opening batter went viral on social media after it was aired on television.
In the video, Rohit Sharma was seen talking to some of his friends who came to the match at Wankhede. After noticing the cameraman, Sharma said, "Bhai yaar, audio band kar bhai, ek audio ne to mera waat laga diya hain."
Despite his (Rohit's) appeal, he continued to record the video and audio which was aired live.
The MI player was referring to an earlier video, a conversation between him and Abhishek Nayar, that was posted by the Kolkata Knight Riders on their Social media. The video was soon deleted but many fans had downloaded and made it viral.
In a post on X, Rohit said, "The lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation we are having in privacy with our friends and colleagues, at training or on match days. Despite asking Star Sports to not record my conversation, it was and was also then played on air, which is a breach of privacy. The need to get exclusive content and focus only on views and engagement will one day break the trust between the fans, cricketers and cricket.Let better sense prevail."
The sudden captaincy transfer by the MI management, had reportedly created tensions in the Mumbai dressing room, which gave way to many controversies through-out the ongoing IPL season.
