Shakib not welcome in Sri Lanka
Just over a month ago, Bangladesh's acting captain Litton Das showed huge sportsmanship when he rescinded his team’s appeal against New Zealand batsman Ish Sodhi, who was run out (Mankaded) at the non-striker's end — his gesture was much praised by fans and cricketers.
However, the same team’s regular captain Shakib Al Hasan’s refusal to withdraw the Timed Out appeal against Sri Lanka’s senior batsman Angelo Mathews, has not gone down well with the latter’s family.
“We are very disappointed. The Bangladeshi captain has no sportsman spirit and did not show humanity in the gentleman’s game,” Angelo's brother, Trevin Mathews, who played cricket at the club level, told DC.
“Shakib is not welcome in Sri Lanka. If he comes here to play any international or the LPL matches, stones will be thrown at him or he will have to face the annoyance of fans”, Trevin warned.
