A tribute to Louie Braille from cricket pitch
Mysuru: To mark the birth anniversary of Louie Braille, visually challenged girls played their first cricket match in the state at MUDA sports complex in Vijaynagar here on Sunday.
The team of 15 players (11 + 4 extra players) from Ranga Rao Memorial School for the visually challenged, who were trained by their coach, C.J. Mohan, won the friendly match beating JSB School for Visually Challenged from Ramanagar who were trained by their coach Sowmya.
Nandini from Ranga Rao School emerged the best batswoman scoring 26 runs and hitting four fours. “Cricket is always considered a game meant for boys, we are happy to explore this new experience,” said Deepika from Ranga Rao School, who emerged as the best all-rounder taking five wickets and scoring 26 runs.
The teams played six overs (three each in two innings). While the Ranga Rao team scored 45 runs in the first innings and 50 in the seconds, JSB School scored 28 and 35 runs respectively.
