IND vs SL, First T20: Binura Fernando ruled out
Pune: A second string Sri Lanka unit received yet another blow during their training session when left-arm fast bowler Binura Fernando was ruled out of the three-match T20 series against India, owing to a hamstring injury. Right-arm fast bowler Shaminda Eranga, who has featured in 37 matches in the shortest format, will replace him.
The news was revealed by stand-in skipper Dinesh Chandimal, who said that the series will be a good opportunity for youngsters to perform ahead of the Asia Cup and World T20.
It happens to every team, they go through their ups and downs. But we learn from our experiences. At the domestic level, the youngsters performed well so this will be a good experience for them,†Chandimal said during the pre-match conference on Monday.
Tillakarantne Dilshan was also ruled out of the first match, but it's now confirmed that he will feature in the remaining two encounters.
Dilshan has a finger fracture. He will not be available for tomorrow but is coming for the second and third game," he said.
Speaking about the Pune pitch, Chandimal said, Pitch seems to have a bit of grass, so the dew factor will come into play later on.â€
Chandimal has not had a good T20 outing and is looking to better his form in the series. I tried to do my best in T20, but my best is yet to come. I will try to do my best in this series,†he said.
