Mumbai: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has hit back at ex-teammate Waqar Younis, who had previously slammed the former for claiming that he wanted to prevent Anil Kumble from getting a 10-wicket-haul in an unsporting manner.
The incident was sparked off when former India opener Virender Sehwag quoted an interview given by Akram, where he had allegedly revealed that Waqar wanted to get run-out, in order to stop ex-India spinner and current national team coach Anil Kumble from picking up a historic 10-wicket-haul, in a Test match against Pakistan at the Feroze Shah Kotla, in 1999.
Waqar soon picked up on this and took a little dig at his former Pakistan teammate, and rubbished the allegations.
However, Wasim Akram soon came back with his own reply to Waqar’s retort; the former Pakistan captain also denied giving the interview, according to Wisden India.
Interestingly, Akram seems to have deleted his tweet since then.
