Fan blocks the path of MS Dhoni's Hummer outside Ranchi airport
Ranchi: A cricketer of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s stature naturally has a lot fans all across India. The excitement around the former India captain gets all-the-more magnified, whenever he comes to his hometown Ranchi.
At the Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi, a fan accosted Dhoni, blocking his Hummer, as the 35-year-old was making his way from the airport to his home.
Dhoni, who was in Kolkata to play a Vijay Hazare Trophy match for Jharkhand, returned to Ranchi with the Jharkhand team by flight on Tuesday.
One particular fan, who was on the same flight as the team, had spotted Dhoni, and tailed him all the way outside the airport, where she blocked the path of the ex-India skipper’s hummer, in the hope of clicking a selfie or at least get an autograph from the cricketer.
However, Dhoni did not oblige the fan, as airport security soon rushed in, to move her out of the way of Dhoni’s car.
In the brief scuffle that broke out outside the airport, the fan’s handbag fell to the ground, as Dhoni’s Hummer ran over it, it has been learnt. Dhoni craned his neck outside his car, in order to make sure everything was ok.
This is not the first time that a Dhoni fan went wild, when they saw him in Ranchi. Earlier this year, one particular fan followed Dhoni’s Hummer from his home to the airport, in order to click a selfie with him. The wicketkeeper-batsman had obliged his fan on that occasion.
Not only has Dhoni’s Hummer attracted the attention of the fans, but it has also intrigued his fellow cricketers as well.
Last year, when the New Zealand cricket team was touring India, star cricketers Tom Lathan Ross Taylor were seen looking on in awe, as Dhoni drove past the New Zealand team bus in his Hummer, in Ranchi.
