4 bowlers who stopped MS Dhoni in last over
Mumbai: MS Dhoni is known as the finisher in international cricket but there have been occasions when Captain Cool remained quiet, courtesy smart bowling. Who are these bowlers? Let’s find out.
Kagiso Rabada (South Africa): One of the recent occurrences, Rabada defended 10 runs and got the wicket of MS Dhoni to gift the Proteas a five-run win in the first ODI in the bilateral series last year. He scored 31 off 30 balls.
James Franklin (New Zealand): Dhoni pushed for singles to take the match to the last over during the second T20I against New Zealand in 2012. Franklin’s medium pace stopped the Indian skipper from taking India home, the team fell short of one run. He remained unbeaten on 22 off 23 balls.
Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka): After Virat Kohli took India to 123 after 19 overs in the ICC World Twenty20 final in 2014, Dhoni could manage only three runs off the first five deliveries of Malinga in the last over. India finally put up 130 on board which the Lankans chased down easily.
Ashish Nehra (Sunrisers Hyderabad): This is clearly the best of the lot, from sharing the last seat in the team bus to facing each other in IPL. Nehra had the upper hand containing the Indian skipper in one of the IPL matches when Rising Pune Supergiants needed 14 in the last over.
