Deepak Chahar could count himself lucky after his delivery was called dead ball by umpire.

Mumbai: The first qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) saw MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings take on Kane Williamson-captained Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, CSK bowlers ran through the SRH top order putting the orange army completely on backfoot.

While wickets kept tumbling for Williamson's side, one of the CSK bowler could count himself lucky after one of his deliveries was called a dead ball.

The bowler in question was Deepak Chahar and the incident occurred in the fifth ball of the fifth over. The delivery which looked like knuckle ball slipped out of Chahar's palm and went over Shakib-Al-Hasan's head. Umpire Marais Erasmus signaled the ball as dead ball much to the surprise of the batsman. He has a brief chat with the square leg umpire before staying with the original decision.
