Eight franchises (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Goa, Kochi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru) will battle it out for the coveted trophy from July 15 to 24 in the inaugural season of the league.
Futsal, a sport which is a shorter and quicker version of football, is very popular in Europe and South America. The five-a-side matches are usually played indoors.
The league which boasts of Kohli as its brand ambassador and football legend Luis Figo as its president, ran into problems with the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Indian football’s governing body said the league is not an official one and doesn’t have the required rights from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
