Srikanth lauds APL's role in nurturing Andhra's Cricketing talent
VISAKHAPATNAM: Former India captain and BCCI senior selection committee chairman Krishnamachari Srikanth has lauded the role of the Andhra Premier League (APL) in nurturing and promoting cricketing talent in Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking at a press conference in Visakhapatnam, Srikanth said that the APL provides a "crucial platform" for aspiring cricketers to showcase their skills and catch the attention of selectors.
He also praised the YSR ACA VDCA Cricket Stadium for its role in providing an excellent setting for cricket development.
"The APL is more than just a cricket tournament; it's an opportunity for young cricketers to shine and an avenue for selectors to discover the future stars of Indian cricket," Srikanth said.
He also highlighted the success of the previous APL season and the increasing popularity of the ongoing APL-2. He noted that the league has become a breeding ground for emerging cricketing talent and has garnered significant attention from fans and selectors alike.
Srikanth's comments come at a time when the APL is in its second season. The league has already seen some impressive performances from young players, and Srikanth believes that the APL has the potential to help Andhra Pradesh produce more international cricketers.
"The APL is a great initiative, and I'm confident that it will play a major role in the development of cricket in Andhra Pradesh," Srikanth said.
He also urged the state government to provide more support to the APL and other cricketing initiatives in the state.
"Cricket is a popular sport in Andhra Pradesh, and there is a lot of talent here," Srikanth said. "With the right support, I'm sure Andhra Pradesh can produce many more international cricketers in the future."
