There Is No Comparison Between the Way Shafali Bats and Anyone Else: Anjum Chopra

Speaking exclusively on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar, Anjum Chopra commented on the contrasting batting styles of Shafali Verma and Jess Jonassen: "There is no comparison between the way Shafali bats and anyone else. Every time I speak with her, I try to understand how her conversations go with Meg while batting. But each time, she evades the question, simply saying that there is no discussion—only shot selection. That’s how Shafali sees it. It would be interesting to hear from Jess whether she and Shafali had any tactical conversations in the middle."
Speaking exclusively on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar, Jess Jonassen from Delhi Capitals reflected on her performance and walking in at number three today:"Yes, I had a conversation with our coach earlier in the day, who informed me that if we lost a wicket within the first few overs of the powerplay, I would be sent in. It was great fun. I don't think I've ever batted with Shafali before, and I really enjoyed it. I managed to hit a few boundaries, and at one point, I was actually outscoring her, which doesn’t happen often!"
Speaking exclusively on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar, Jess Jonassen shared her thoughts on her camaraderie with Shafali Verma during the match:"I was just encouraging her to keep backing herself. The best time to bat is often with the new ball, and she kept reminding me to play straight as well. Both of us perform at our best when we do that. It was great to have similar conversations, giving each other the same advice and actually following it. To be honest, she is one of the best ball strikers in the game. For her, it's about shot selection, ensuring she plays the right shots to the right deliveries. I think her favorite shot of the day was that six off Ashleigh Gardner. As soon as she hit it, she screamed with relief. I just reminded her to take it one ball at a time and finish the job. I know she was disappointed to get out when she did, but she played an amazing innings."
Speaking exclusively on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar, Jess Jonassen spoke about the advice Sourav Ganguly gave her before the match:"He reminded me to focus on playing good cricket shots and to capitalize on the shorter boundary, particularly if the bowling was straight or on the leg stump. He encouraged me to back myself and take advantage of those opportunities. I was pleased that I could implement his advice. Yes, I hit a few sixes, but I also played some solid cricket shots, though there were a few streaky ones in there too!"
Speaking exclusively on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar, Jess Jonassen highlighted how Shafali Verma is adapting her game: "It’s all about picking the right match-ups. There will always be certain types of bowling that suit you better. The key is to take calculated risks against bowlers who aren’t the best match-ups for you and not force shots that aren’t there. For a batter like Shafali, who strikes the ball so well, there’s always an opportunity to catch up later. It’s about patience and making smart decisions."
Speaking exclusively on Amul Cricket Live on JioHotstar, Anjum Chopra analyzed Jess Jonassen’s performance: "It was a surprise to see the way Jess Jonassen came in and batted today. She played a high-quality knock. There was a potential pressure situation after Meg Lanning’s wicket fell—bringing in another batter could have put the team in trouble at two or three down. But the way Jess absorbed that pressure was absolutely brilliant."
