The 2016 Euro Champions Portugal will clash with Slovenia at the Round of 16 of UEFA Euro 2024 at Deutsche Bank Park, Frankfurt.
In the group stages, Portugal had a sound start with 2-1 win against Czechia and 3-0 win against Türkiye but Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal lost to Georgia 2-0 in their final group stage match. Many key players were missing in the match against Georgia including Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and Pepe.
Slovenia made it to the round of 16 despite all their matches ending in draws. The draws came against Denmark, England and Serbia.
Despite topping their group, Portugal stumbled before Georgia, and we have to see whether it will have an impact in the knockout stage match.
Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal is a talented squad, and it will be under scrutiny when they face Slovenia in Frankfurt. The Portugal captain hasn't scored in this tournament, and nothing is going according to his way. Apart from Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva are the key players for the team.
With the talent that they have, Portugal may win against Slovenia, and they may enter quarterfinals.
