Coach Stephen Constantine defends off-colour Robin Singh

India could have at least scored half a dozen goals past the lowly ranked Nepal but for poor finishing especially in the first half.

Mumbai: India made light of premier striker Sunil Chhetri’s absence to humble Nepal 2-0 and stretch their winning streak to seven matches. Head coach Stephen Constantine has now led India to 12 wins in 14 games in his second tenure besides guiding India to the top-100 in FiFA rankings.

India could have at least scored half a dozen goals past the lowly ranked Nepal but for poor finishing especially in the first half.

Robin Singh had a forgettable game but Constantine defended him saying, “He is a fighter and on any other day he could have scored a hat-trick.”

Robin was so disorganised upfront that he was replaced after the break. “It had nothing to do with his performance, we wanted to check as many players we can (total five in friendly game) ahead of the Kyrgystan game,” Constantine added.
